Merete Leonhardt-Lupa is a Swedish language instructor at CU Nordic Department and at CU Andersen Language Technology Center. She guides her students on their journey to Swedish language competency through a variety of modern language learning techniques. Merete grew up on the Swedish west coast and maintains strong ties to Scandinavian culture and languages professionally and through frequent visits. Merete is a co-founder of the Swedish Online Project, an online learning platform which allows students to take Advanced Swedish Language courses in fellowship with other committed students from a handful of universities in the U.S. She has presented papers on Online Pedagogy at several international conferences, including The Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study. Merete holds two Swedish language assessment certifications (ACTFL OPI and SWEDEX), and offers her testing services to interested CU students and the public. In addition to her appointment at CU, Merete is a professional technical translator, specializing in psychology, Internet technology and business. She has published a book on the psychological changes of becoming a mother (Greenwood Publishing Group, 1995). In her leisure time, Merete enjoys outdoor adventures, captivating novels, and time with family and friends, preferably on two continents
